Taylor Tate, has been awarded a Northwestern University 2015 Summer Research Grant

Undergraduate student in environmental sciences, Taylor Tate, has been awarded a Northwestern University 2015 Summer Research Grant ($3,000) for her research "Pollinator and Flower Characteristics." Her advisor is Dr. Krissa Skogen.

PhD student, Elliot Gardner, has been awarded a grant of $4,673 from ISEN (Institute for Sustainability and Energy at Northwestern, 2015) for his research " Basic science for a sustainable future: the genome of breadfruit’s wild relative."

Jessamine Finch, PhD student, was awarded a travel grant of $350 from the Illinois State Academy of Science for travel to Missouri to set up a field germination trial this coming fall (2015).

MS student ,Claire Ellwanger, received funding ($20,390) from The Great Lakes Restoration Initiative in collaboration with the Fish and Wildlife Service for her research "Genetic assessment of management and restoration practices of the federally threatened orchid, Platanthera leucophaea (The Eastern Prairie Fringed Orchid). Elliot Gardner, PhD student, was awarded a 2015 NSF-Doctoral Dissertation Improvement Grant for "Evolutionary transitions: pollination biology and domestication of Artocarpus (Moraceae)." Elliot's research combines phylogenomics with field experiments and morphological studies, and the grant will fund fieldwork in Sabah and Sarawak, Malaysia (Borneo) ($17,882). (http://www.nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD_ID=1501373)

Adrienne Basey, MS student, was awarded $800 from the Washington Native Plant Society

Adrienne Basey, MS student, was awarded $800 from the Washington Native Plant Society for her research to determine changes in genetic diversity of native plants associated with plant production. Her study species is golden paintbrush (Castilleja levisecta), a threatened species native to the prairies of western Oregon and Washington (2015).

Magdalena Eshleman, MS student, has been awarded a 2015 grant from The Alumnae of Northwestern University in the amount of $1,690 for her research, The Role of Seed Source When Restoring Native Ecosystems in the Colorado Plateau.
